On August 12, 2022 the England ‘A’ Billiards team triumphed over nine other home nation teams to win the Home Nations Billiards Championship 2022 in Leeds.
This included notable victories over Northern Ireland and the England ‘B’ team in the semis and final respectively.
Perhaps most remarkably the team comprised three players all of whom play both billiards and snooker in the same local team at Chandlers Ford Central Club, the CIU club which is situated near Eastleigh in Hampshire.
Ryan Mears, Terry Azor and captain John Mullane qualified on merit for the top three slots for England.
The Chandlers Ford Central teams, of which Terry Azor is captain and Mullane and Mears are key players, succeeded in winning both Snooker and Billiards Leagues in Southampton.
Individually, all three players succeeded in winning individual titles nationally and locally.
The club has four top-class snooker tables and Terry Azor has taken it upon himself to ensure that they are always in immaculate condition.
Terry comes into the club on most days when he is not competing in order to clean them and ensure that local players have first-class facilities.
